“Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist” Renewed for Second Season

The NBC musical “dramedy” Lista de reprodução extraordinária de Zoey has been renewed for a second season, as reported earlier this week.

Starring Jane Levy, the show follows as a young woman named Zoey who discovers she can hear the innermost thoughts of people around her as songs and musical numbers. The first season, which wrapped earlier this summer, ended with the death of her father, Mitch, who had progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP).

The show’s creator, Austin Winsberg, has shared how he draws inspiration for the show from his late father’s journey with PSP, and recently spoke to the ways in which his family’s experience helped to shape the first season.

While dates are yet to be announced for the show’s return, Winsberg has suggested the second season could shift more towards the meaning of Zoey’s powers, but emphasized the importance of still maintaining the show’s human element.

“I like kind of leaning into the mythology a little bit, but not at the expense of the human dynamics and characters and relationships, which I think are more important,” he said in an interview with TVLine.

Levy has also shared how she hopes to explore the idea of moving forward after loss, as her character must now navigate the world without her father.

O espetáculo, que estreou em janeiro, é considerado um dos artistas digitais mais fortes da NBC. It is available to stream on Hulu e YouTube.

“We were overwhelmed by the number of people who fell in love with Lista de reprodução extraordinária de Zoey and how much joy it brought to everyone,” Lisa Katz and Tracey Pakosta, co-presidents of scripted programming for NBC Entertainment, told Variedade. “We’re thrilled to bring it back and can’t wait to see how Zoey’s journey continues.”
