AFTD Care Partner Learning Series Webinar: Navigating Behavioral Variant FTD Symptoms

Behavioral variant FTD, or bvFTD, makes up almost half of all FTD diagnoses. Behavioral symptoms can fundamentally alter one’s personality, which can be extremely distressing for the person diagnosed and challenging for care partners, family members, and friends. Learning about and understanding these symptoms can help care partners approach behaviors and support the person with bvFTD.

Katya Rascovsky, PhD, associate professor in the Department of Neurology and Penn Frontotemporal Degeneration Center at University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, joins this webinar to provide an overview of bvFTD’s behavioral symptoms, paying particular attention to disinhibition, executive dysfunction, and a lack of insight into one’s own condition.

Viewers will be able to:

  • Understand the overall disease manifestation and progression of bvFTD
  • Learn about the role of disinhibition, executive dysfunction, and lack of insight into one’s own condition with bvFTD
  • Access resources for care partners to support the person with bvFTD
