Provide Help and Bring Hope with a Year-End Gift
AFTD was founded more than 20 years ago with a single donation. Since then, the dedication and generosity of our volunteers, donors, and partners have enabled us to better meet the needs of all who face FTD.
When you support AFTD’s mission, you provide help and bring hope to all who are – and will be – impacted by this disease. Each gift sustains initiatives such as the Comstock Grant program, HelpLine, and volunteer-led support groups while advancing vital research for biomarker discovery and therapeutic development.
As 2023 draws to a close, there are a number of ways you can support this important work and the people we serve. As FTD awareness grows, your contribution will ensure we are able to meet the evolving needs of a growing community and ensure no one has to navigate FTD alone.
Gifts in Tribute – A year-end gift in honor or memory of someone is a meaningful way to acknowledge their impact on your life and recognize their FTD journey. Making a tribute donation is secure and easy using our donation form, or you can set up a tribute page where you can invite your family and friends to contribute.
Recurring Donation – As an AFTD Sustainer of Hope, your monthly or annual gift of any amount will provide a reliable source of financial support and is a simple and impactful way to advance AFTD’s work on behalf of all facing this disease. To become a Sustainer of Hope, simply follow this link and select the “Recurring” button.
Gifts of Stock and Mutual Funds – A donation of securities, such as stock or mutual funds, is a tax-efficient way to meet your charitable goals while making a substantial impact on furthering AFTD’s mission. Additionally, a gift of appreciated assets made before December 31 could provide you with tax benefits for 2023. More information can be found here.
Donor-Advised Funds – A donor advised fund is a powerful philanthropic means designed to empower benefactors with the opportunity to invest, grow, and give assets to charities such as AFTD for lasting impact. Designating a gift to AFTD through your DAF, by using our DAF Direct tool or contacting your financial advisor or institution, is a simple way to make a profound impact on all whom we serve.
Qualified Charitable Distribution – For people who are 70 1/2 years of age and older, a qualified charitable distribution can be an effective way to support organizations such as AFTD. Making a gift directly from a traditional IRA allows donors to exclude the dollar amount of the distribution from their annual taxable income while bringing help and hope to all who are navigating an FTD diagnosis.
Gifts made through each of the above channels can be applied to wherever the need is most urgent or to support one of our mission areas of Advocacy, Caregiver Respite, Drug Discovery, Quality of Life for People with FTD, Research, or Support.
A financial advisor may be an effective resource if you have specific questions about which of these options is best for you.
Matching Gifts – There are nearly 26 million people working for Fortune 500 companies with matching gift programs but an estimated $6-10 billion remains undesignated every year! A matching gift from your employer is the easiest way to double – sometimes triple – your impact to help people affected by FTD. After making a donation simply use this Double the Donation tool to search for US-based companies that have a registered matching gift program, or check with your company’s human resources department.
Are you an AFTD volunteer? Your employer may also make a grant to AFTD in recognition of your commitment.
If you have questions about these year-end giving options, please contact AFTD Development Director Amanda Knight by email by clicking here or call us at 267-514-7221.
Thank you for considering a donation to advance AFTD’s work for the people we serve. Together, we can bring forward a world with compassionate care, effective support, and a future free of FTD.
We deeply appreciate all our supporters do to provide help and bring hope to this community throughout the year and wish you peace and hope for the holiday season and new year ahead.
