January’s Athlete of the Month: Pam McReynolds
January’s athlete of the month is AFTD-Team member Pam McReynolds from Tennessee. Pam joined us on Charity Miles last July, and has since logged over 1,000 miles by walking in her driveway and running the perimeter of her yard.
Pam chooses to stay active for AFTD’s mission in support of her husband, Scott, who started to show symptoms of FTD in 2012 at the age of 54. Pam and Scott were both runners who enjoyed being active together – years later, they continue to take walks together, and find other ways to stay active in the midst of their FTD journey.
“First, I’m doing this to support Scott,” Pam said. “Secondly, I’m doing this to support the efforts of AFTD – to help those living with FTD and their caregivers. And finally, I’m doing this for me.” Pam stresses the importance of keeping fit so that she is capable of caring for her husband amidst the physical and mental stressors of the FTD journey. “I hope that sharing our story inspires others to join Charity Miles and begin taking care of their health while supporting the mission of AFTD.”
You can join Pam and the rest of the AFTD-Team by downloading the Charity Miles app and getting active in support of our mission starting today! This March, we’ll introduce a new sponsorship where all AFTD-Team miles tracked on the app will result in $1/mile donation (up to $10,000) to advance AFTD’s mission! Follow us on social media to stay up-to-date on our Charity Miles partnership and the details of the upcoming sponsorship.
