Help & Support: Sleep Issues in FTD

Graphic: Help & Support - Sleep Issues in FTD
Changes to sleep routines are a common challenge for the person living with FTD and their care partners.  Sleep changes can come in many forms including:
  • Waking frequently during the night
  • Sleeping during the day, while being awake at night
  • Not sleeping for long stretches or even days at a time
  •  Sleeping for extended periods of time throughout the day and night.
These issues can lead to an exacerbation of FTD symptoms and increased stress for care partners.  AFTD has developed the resource below to help persons with FTD and care partners speak with their health care providers about sleep changes and identify approaches to care and support.
Getting support from peers, other caregivers and health professionals is key. AFTD’s HelpLine is available for additional support, information, and resources. Ways to get connected with other caregivers for support can be found here.
