Researchers in Colorado launched a new online resource dedicated to helping people navigate difficult decisions concerning safety and dementia, reported by KUNC community radio on November 5.

The website, Safety in Dementia, aims to help care partners and persons diagnosed plan for the future by supporting discussions about safety in the home, driving, and firearms access. KUNC specifically points to the risk of guns in homes of those with dementia, describing a growing problem that’s less talked about than home safety or driving.

The website provides general information about ways to improve safety, as well as interactive tools that offer common solutions to situations people impacted by dementia might face when making a safety plan.
